太平清醮，又稱「打醮」，是傳統社會的一種大規模節慶活動，通過向神明祈福並祭度孤魂，地方社會在建醮的過程中期望達到人神共樂，實踐其身份認同，而不少太平清醮已被列入香港非物質文化遺產清單。儘管香港新界地區的太平清醮有著相似的儀式結構，當中的實踐與社會脈絡包括科儀傳統（正一／全真）、地方組織（單姓宗族／聯鄉「約」）、聚落形成或族群背景（本地／客家）、定居脈絡（鄉村／沿海聚落；海外移民）的差異，也有助我們探索香港傳統節慶同時，了解地方社會的多樣性。
About the Talk
The Jiao festival, also called "Da Chiu," is a traditional festival generally regarded as a large-scale event. By worshipping deities for blessings and pacifying ghosts, local communities share joy and reinforce identity. Several Jiao festivals have been inscribed in Hong Kong's Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory. While Jiao festivals in the New Territories share a broad ritual structure, their social contexts vary considerably, including ritual traditions (Orthodox One / All Pure Perfection), organizational composition (single-surname lineage / lineage alliance), settlement history or ethnicity (Punti / Hakka), and geospatial and settlement context (rural / coastal; overseas immigration). These variations provide a useful lens for exploring traditional festivals and their diversity in Hong Kong.
講者：馬健行博士
馬健行博士現任香港教育大學社會科學與政策研究學系講師。馬博士於香港科技大學人文學部取得博士學位，主修歷史與人類學。馬博士的研究興趣為道教社群與儀式、民間宗教脈絡下的儀式專家和樂師群體、與香港非物質文化遺產。

劉樹偉博士本科畢業於多倫多大學 (Innis 2000)，及後於香港科技大學取得哲學博士學位，主修歷史與人類學。劉博士於2008-2017年間任職香港教育大學社會科學系講師，及於2017年回流加拿大大。劉博士的研究興趣為香港新界的傳統社會組織及其應對城市化的過程，瑣羅亞斯德教 (Zoroastrianism) 社群的近代歷史及其國際網絡的發展，著有 "The Ruttonjees:Industry • Foresight • Charities" 一書(2024)。
