✨ Collection Update – Chan Kiu Personal Archive ✨

We’ve got exhilarating news to share with fellow enthusiasts about Hong Kong’s visual history!! Our library is honored to be entrusted with the donation of Chan Kiu Personal Archive by his family. This donation includes invaluable photographs, manuscripts, and shooting equipment that had accompanied his legendary career.

Chan Kiu dedicated his life to photojournalism, serving in the South China Morning Post between 1959 and 1987. His stills capture historical moments of the city, telling stories about the 1967 Riot, visit of Queen Elizabeth II, and the influx of Vietnamese refugees etc. The manuscripts and speeches further reflect philosophy of himself as the first Chinese photojournalist.

It has been the mission of our library to collect and advocate records about Hong Kong’s history and culture. After necessary processing, Chan Kiu Personal Archive will be open for public access and research. Stay tuned for more!
