關於許之遠教授

       許之遠教授,祖籍廣東省開平縣,是當代知名儒學家、詩人與評論家。他青少年時期居於香港,後赴台取得國立台灣大學法學學士,並於多倫多大學深造獲文學碩士,現長居多倫多。他於 1989 年當選台灣第一屆增額立法委員,並先後獲聘為駐港華僑旅運社總經理、總統府國策顧問及台北市政府顧問,長期作為海外僑界與台灣政壇的重要橋樑。

       學術方面,他曾任世新大學副教授,長期深耕史學與古典文學研究。著作等身,出版書籍六十餘冊,代表作包括論析地緣政治的《一九九七香港之變》、記錄華社變遷的《唐人街外傳》與《唐人街正傳》,以及《讀史與處世》、《翻騰年代的經歷:許之遠回憶錄》等。

       他長年於北美報刊和網絡平台撰寫專欄,被譽為「多倫多的國學大師」,以士大夫風骨傳承中華文化。九旬高齡仍筆耕不輟,並慷慨捐助多倫多大學香港圖書館,成立「許之遠人文講座」,是北美僑界公認的文化領袖。

About Professor David Zhiyuan Hui

Professor David Hui, whose ancestral home is Kaiping, Guangdong, is a distinguished scholar of Chinese studies, poet, and cultural critic. Raised in Hong Kong, he earned a Bachelor of Laws from National Taiwan University and a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, where he now resides. He was elected to Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan in 1989 and has served in senior cultural and policy roles in Hong Kong and Taipei.

Formerly an Associate Professor at Shih Hsin University, specializing in historiography and classical literature, he has authored more than sixty books, including The Transformation of Hong Kong in 1997, Unofficial History of Chinatown, and The Official History of Chinatown. For decades, he has written for North American Chinese-language media and endowed the “David Hui Lectureship in Humanities” at the University of Toronto’s Richard Charles Lee Hong Kong Library, underscoring his enduring influence in the Chinese diaspora community.
